In Spain, we daily use insfrastructures built or rebuilt by means of repression during the Franco regime. What are these infrastructures and what stories do they contain? From November 23, 1940 to December 14, 1941, my grandfather, Bonaventura Puig Puig, as a member of the Disciplinary Battalion of Working Soldiers no. 15, mandatorily took part in the repair and construction of a mountain route. In his actual physical act of construction, simultaneously resided the destruction of his youth, the latency of a possible death. d'infraestructures són cabdals en contextos de guerra i postguerra, i ambdues accions sovint apel·len a un simbolisme d'ordre polític. Diàriament utilitzem infraestructures construïdes o reconstruïdes durant el franquisme per mitjà de la repressió. Quines són aquestes infraestructures i quins relats contenen? Des del 23 de novembre de 1940 fins el 14 de desembre de 1941, el meu avi, Bonaventura Puig Puig, com a membre del Batalló Disciplinari de Soldats Treballadors núm. 15, va participar forçosament en la reparació i construcció d’una pista de muntanya. En el seu propi acte físic de construcció hi residia simultàniament la destrucció de la seva joventut, la latència d'una possible mort. Ara bé, des de la perspectiva del règim franquista, si bé aquesta pista es reparava i construïa en el marc de l'operació militar que tenia per objectiu atacar la base britànica de Gibraltar, el seu condicionament i construcció també es duia a terme en un context més ampli, el programa de reconstrucció i ordenació de les infraestructures del país, prèviament destruïdes durant la Guerra Civil. Diariamente utilizamos infraestructuras construidas o reconstruidas durante el franquismo por medio de la represión. ¿Cuáles son estas infraestructuras y qué relatos contienen? Desde el 23 de noviembre de 1940 hasta el 14 de diciembre de 1941, mi abuelo, Bonaventura Puig Puig, como miembro del Batallón Disciplinario de Soldados Trabajadores nº 15, participó forzosamente en la reparación y construcción de una pista de montaña. En su propio acto físico de construcción residía simultáneamente la destrucción de su juventud, la latencia de una posible muerte. Sin embargo, desde la perspectiva del régimen franquista, si bien esta pista se reparaba y construía en el marco de la operación militar que tenía por objetivo atacar la base británica de Gibraltar, su acondicionamiento y construcción también se llevaba a cabo en un contexto más amplio, el programa de reconstrucción y ordenación de las infraestructuras del país, previamente destruidas durante la Guerra Civil. In Spain, we daily use infrastructures built or rebuilt by means of repression during the Franco regime. Which are these infrastructures and what stories do they contain? From November 23, 1940 to December 14, 1941, my grandfather, Bonaventura Puig Puig, as a member of the Disciplinary Battalion of Working Soldiers no. 15, mandatorily took part in the repair and construction of a mountain route. No obstant, davant l'inexpressable, el seu cos, el cos viscut, va esdevenir de forma natural l'únic referent possible al qual interpel·lar. En aquest procés de fotografiar el seu cos es va fer evident d'on provenia tal inquietud: precisament de la manca de referència al cos en el text del dietari, del fet que no hi hagués cap menció al dolor corporal. Si és manifest que la guerra es pateix a través del cos, perquè el cos i el dolor corporal escapen del contingut dels seus relats?&nbsp; El dolor corporal és difícilment compartible, assegura el seu caràcter inexpugnable a través de la seva resistència al llenguatge. Aquest fet no està exempt de conseqüències polítiques: allò que no pot ser expressat suporta la càrrega de la invisibilitat, almenys en termes relatius respecte el que sí és manifestable. El dolor infligit al cos perpetua el record de la guerra fins al punt de condicionar el temps futur? Una quotidianitat encarnada per la guerra podria ser definida com una quotidianitat de descivilització condicionada per la radical relació entre poder polític i cos, dolor corporal i l’efectivitat de la memòria que aquest provoca? El que el cos recorda és ben recordat, i aquest fet, per obvi, pot ser subestimat. [ENG] At first, I was unable to identify what the unease caused by reading the diary my grandfather wrote during the Spanish Civil War was connected to. However, in the face of the ineffable, his body, the lived body, naturally became the only possible reference to call upon. Durant la Guerra Civil va escriure un dietari; li va posar títol: «Historia de Ventura Puig durante el servicio en el Ejército rojo durante la guerra de España en 1937. i 1938. i 1939.» Segons explica, el va escriure com un mer exercici de pràctica de cal·ligrafia i escriptura. Per precaució, va haver de desprendre’s d’una part del dietari; va enterrar aquestes pàgines al costat d’un taronger situat als afores de Vilamarxant. No les va recuperar mai. Tanmateix, acabada la Guerra Civil, les va reescriure, tot i que ja no és capaç d’identificar-les d’entre la resta del dietari. Avui ni tan sols recorda el nom del poble on les va amagar. Un taronger. Vilamarxant, 2018. [ESP] El 16 de septiembre de 1937 mi abuelo Ventura fue llamado a filas. Fue destinado a la 212 Brigada Mixta, al cuerpo de infantería, junto con algunos amigos de Amer y Bonmatí. Durante la Guerra Civil escribió un dietario; le puso título: «Historia de Ventura Puig durante el servicio en el Ejército rojo durante la guerra de España en 1937. i 1938. i 1939.» Según cuenta, lo escribió como un mero ejercicio de práctica de caligrafía y escritura. Por precaución, tuvo que desprenderse de una parte del dietario; enterró estas páginas al lado de un naranjo situado en las afueras de Villamarchante. No las recuperó nunca. Sin embargo, una vez terminada la Guerra Civil, las reescribió, aunque ya no es capaz de identificarlas de entre el resto del dietario. He was assigned to the infantry corps of the 212nd Mixed Brigade, along with some friends from the villages of Amer and Bonmatí. During the Spanish Civil War, he wrote a diary and titled it, «History of Ventura Puig during his service in the Red Army1 during the Spanish Civil War in 1937. and 1938. and 1939.»2 As he explains, he wrote it as a mere exercise in the practice of calligraphy and writing. As a precaution, he had to get rid of a piece of his diary, so he buried these pages next to an orange tree on the outskirts of Vilamarxant. He never got them back.
